As a website developer/designer running my own media company for the past 6+ years, I have been able to learn a range of skills that would be very useful in any workplace, such as; discussing client briefs and concepts, right through to the final completed development. As well as being a very fast an efficient worker, I have been able to keep upto date with current online trends, including HTML5 and CSS3. I also feel that I am a very friendly and approachable person, which makes for a relaxed yet professional working environment.
I was hired as a contractor to undertake a large scale project to update large sections across their multiple language sites. Including transferring and adding content through their WebSphere platform, implementing 10000’s of eSpots and contextual merchandising banners.
While working for LaRedoute, I was the head digital designer/developer, my responsibilities included designing and developing dynamic, responsive homepage layouts, using their custom built CMS. Creating social media graphics, and developing email campaigns. On a day to day basis, I regularly used WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS and Photoshop.
While working for this SEO based company in York, I was one of two developers working here to help offer their existing and new clients web development solutions. This mostly included working within WordPress, creating custom themes and implementing any functionality needed for the clients needs, from E-Commerce solutions to an affiliate based system. I also helped modify and improve the user interface for some internal websites used by the company to improve usability for the rest of the staff.
First10 are a digital design agency based in Leeds. I was hired initially for 1 week to help with their backlog of front end development work, and this was extended to 5 weeks after the initial trial. While working here, my daily tasks include working with a WordPress backend, customising coding and implementing new functionality into hand coded themes. Also included in the day to day work is coding email campaigns, and also working with a WooCommerce e-commerce system too.
Forever Treasure Printing is a family run printing company based in Yorkshire, offering everything from personalized mugs and canvases to large format printing. I was hired to improve their company image and online presence, and also integrate more functionality into a new website build. Overall their new website includes a full e-commerce/cms backend they can manage themselves and take orders through, on top of this, they have a fully working Product Designer, which will allow customers to design their own items. Once the customer has designed and submitted their product, they are processed by the site owners and sent to print. Since launch, they have since an increase in website hits, profits and they now have the professional image to compete with other large printing companies.
Bonmarche is the largest UK womenswear retailer in the UK. I was hired at Bonmarche as a “digital designer”, and my responsibilities here included designing social media graphics, advertising and website banners, and email newsletters. I was also responsible for the coding and development of the email newsletters ensuring best practices for deliverability and also working with their admin area based on the Vendor platform.
An independent boutique in Wakefield centre was looking to expand and improve their online image. This meant creating a full e-commerce platform that was easy and simple to use for my client, which they could update themselves with minimal intervention from myself. Since it launched in September 2014, their sales have massively increased, and I have since installed a Point of Sale and Stock Control system, so her physical shop is syncronized to her online boutique.
Skills For Justice are licensed by the government and currently undertake work for Police Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies, Courts, Tribunals and Posecutional Services, Forensic Science Services, Legal Services and many more. My job was to work on all of the governmental portals and online information sites updating content, integrating new functionality, ensuring the websites CMS worked flawlessly for clients to update themselves, and also ensuring the websites were perfectly viewable on all browsers (from IE6 upwards).
TheFightLounge is one of the UK's largest Mixed Martial Arts news resources. They got in touch with myself to help redesign their current website, add new features and functionality and make it all very easy for them to manage through a CMS. The whole site was finished ahead of schedule and to their required specification, including the framework for an e-commerce platform to be later installed.
Myself and a friend were looking for a new project, and came up with the idea of creating a platform to allow journalist and bloggers to showcase their work, while cross promoting our photographic work.
