I am a highly skilled and experienced Android developer with a passion for crafting polished and intuitive mobile experiences. My current role has provided me a very high level of responsibility, conditions I both enjoy and thrive in. As my career has progressed I have developed a particular interest in front-end development and product ownership - projects that require a keen sense for strong UX, afford the opportunity to work alongside designers, or allow scope for influencing the product vision are therefore of special interest to me. Since joining Gamesys I have released 10 separate gaming apps for major names across both the US and UK, including Virgin and Hasbro. After being promoted to the team's Senior developer I became responsible for guiding the technical direction of all our Android & Hybrid mobile applications, taking lead on new projects and proposals, liaising with senior product management and external teams, as well as leading internal team meetings. I also stepped up my influence in product ownership; proposing, designing, pitching and ultimately building a number of new features to enhance the player experience in our existing apps, as well as new supporting applications and an entirely new venture into VR gaming.
From integrating graphics engines to coding efficient server communications, I took the time to get involved with as many different aspects of our applications as possible. While the majority of my day was spent writing code, I was also responsible for reviewing my team's work, technical architecture of new features and liaising with UX, Design and Product Owners to iron out any issues or discuss potential improvements. Product innovation gradually became a more important part of my role, something that I continue to derive a great deal of satis faction from being involved in. One example being an install wizard to boost our acquisition rates; having grown increasingly frustrated at a lack of presence of the Google Play store (gambling apps are restricted), I spearheaded a project to significantly improve the user experience of installing an app from outside of the Play store. The project was a success and was swiftly patented by the company following its completion and presentation to the board of directors.
As developer for the company's TV set top box portal for Android, I worked from project inception to deliver a completed app for Telefonica Chile, as well as a white label version to help drive further business. Following release I focused on the formation of standalone libraries to be licensed out to third parties.
Living in Tokyo I worked in several different Eikawa schools, teaching advanced English while developing of a handfu l of Java teaching aids.
I was primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of quotation algorithms for most of the UKs largest insurers, such as Axa and NIG.
